Today, i went car shopping with my brother to find him a good replacement car. The third dealership we stumbled upon was a Honda dealership, okay let's go check out Honda Accord. It was quite packed, compared to the Mazda dealership it almost looked like Honda was giving away free food with all the people in here. However, we did get a salesperson right away. He explained the Accord in good detail, let us go on short test drive, etc etc. But when we sat down to discuss price and we informed him that we would not be buying the car today because there were other cars to look at and details must be discussed with his wife. The same question's were barked at us multiple times. "When's the soonest you can come in?" "Can you give me a call when your interested?" "The sooner you tell me you want to buy, i'll give you a better price!" Constantly harassing and harassing, fucking annoying.

After telling the salesperson a few million times that we will have to think, he told us to wait and comes back with the manager. Again..."How long will it take for you to deiced, days, weeks, months?" The fuck? I get it, you have to meet a quota but the only time this happens is at Honda dealerships.

The same thing happened to me at another Honda dealership two years ago, the salesperson wouldn't leave us alone. Kept reminding us that will get a better deal once we shake is hand, kept asking how long it will take us to think about it.

Volkswagen dealership: Casual, salesperson knew his stuff about the cars. More professional.

Mazda dealership: Very casual, salesperson was wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Simply told us if we liked another car, no big deal. Just come back if you want it...

Subaru: A bit pushy, tried selling us the car before test driving. Though he could tell we weren't interested after we drove it.

Honda: When you gonna buy it? When can you come in to buy it? When can i take your money? When can your wife come in?

Fuck CVT's..

Good points, Being more aggressive towards a sale, can either sell the car, or scare the customer off.

I'm aiming for VW guy with my sales career. Mazda guy was too lax, though.

I really like the Accord, especially in white. That is a fine looking automobile.

From my experience, Hyundai is nice to people, Toyota literally walked up to me and told me if I was looking for the FR-S to leave since it was the weeks when it was rolling to the dealers.

I did walk by a Kia dealership and I was acting mature but my group of friends literally just walked through the dealership because they didn't want to walk on the sidewalk and I guess we just seemed like a disrespectful mess since the guy in the building was glaring at me while I was reading up on this Kia Soul.

Yeah, I'm no stranger to that, made the mistake of giving a dealership my number once, wouldn't leave me alone for 6 straight months.

I really can't stand dealerships sometimes. I like them for some things, especially maintenance. But the idea of direct sales sounds better everyday..

I still get e-mails from dealerships from when I bought my car. I have told all of them that I ended up buying somewhere else, and they still occasionally call me or e-mail me. It's kind of annoying.

My Honda dealer on SI is JUST AS BAD!

No offense, but the person we were speaking with was a very thickly accented oriental, spoke very fast, almost intolerantly, wouldn't answer any straight questions just like yours wouldn't, and a WAAAYYY too rigorous/forced test drive.

They were probably trying to decide if you were even serious before negotiating. There's all kinds of people that come into a dealership, and there's no point wasting time with someone negotiating that isn't ready to buy a car. If you told me you had other cars to test drive I would say I understand, call me if you have any questions. Someone else might think you're just saying that to get a better deal. As if you're not loving the car, but if the price is right you might be persuaded. After all acting too smitten by a car is a sure fire way to get ripped off by the salesman. If you sat down in the office after a test drive that usually means you're in a position to buy today, or the next couple of days if you can come to terms. Most people that aren't serious will avoid sitting down after the test drive. "Sorry I just remembered I have to help a friend in an hour", or "I have an appointment to do such and such" are classic examples people use to get away if they aren't buying.

The Toyota dealerships are very similar to this story in my area.

If you think Honda is bad....it's a good thing you didn't go to Hyundai or Kia.

Went to a Mitsubishi dealership for a part and I walked in the front doors. I might as well have been the only person on the planet. Got a lot of looks from reps but no one got up or even bothered to say hi.

I've had this experience at 2 different Honda dealers, but it was the worst for me at a Hyundai dealership.

I was doing some homework a few years back for my parents. They were in the market for a small SUV, and, in my opinion, the CR-V was the best bet. I test drove one, talked to the salesman about it, took home some paperwork, and was on my way.

The Hyundai dealership wouldn't even let me take a Santa Fe out for a test drive without them there. They tried pressuring me into calling them up to take the car for a drive THAT DAY or else they wouldn't let me take one out. I asked to speak to the guy's manager, and I got the same spiel. The following Monday, I got a call from them asking when they could go to the dealership to take out the Santa Fe, and I flat out told them to fuck off.

I had a Toyota guy tell me that the off road shocks that came with the off road package would ruin the stock tires and any other tires I put on as replacements.
When I asked him why were they sold like that, he couldn't answer... "They just do" he said.

Needless to say, I went to a different dealer to get my off road vehicle with the "off road" package.

Yeah, nothing irks me more than a sales associate who doesn't know, well, anything. If you have the occasional piece of information that you need to look up, fine. Otherwise, you just sound like an idiot to the consumer. It doesn't instil confidence.

When my girl bought her 2012 honda civic (before meeting me) she told me how the car salesmen was constantly hitting on her an what douche they were there. Are there any good dealers story?
